Harvest Carnival

Right before Halloween, my school had a carnival to celebrate harvest and scary stuff. I was very, very excited to go to it.

They had a bunch of cool stuff. These pumpkins had been decorated by the different classes.

I had a wristband that let me play games and go through the haunted house and get my face painted. The first thing I did was jump into the cookie walk. I won after about 8 rounds!

Kai joined in too.

Kai found a game for little kids where they dug for treasures. He found a spider ring and a little bracelet.

The haunted house was ready then so Dad and I went in there. Mom and Kai explored around for a while.

The haunted house was not quite what I expected. It was so scary I wanted to turn around after about 10 feet - but I charged ahead. I was a little shaken after we came out and needed a change of pace. Time for face painting! I wanted a vampire on my face but apparently that was too elaborate for the amateur they brought in. I settled for a skull. Phht.

Kai got one too. He got a kitty! He was so good and held still like such a big boy.

“YEOWM!”

There was a dance in the other gym and we went and danced and played with balloons.

I refused to admit it, but after all that I was pretty worn out. So home we went! With a big white bag of goodies. IMG_5192

OMSI

We went to OMSI just before Halloween. I can’t believe I don’t remember ever going out behind it before! It’s right on the river and was so. cool. Kai and mom liked it too.

Kai was always on the run.

I’m the good one.

IMG_5157

The last thing we did while we were there was play in the water exhibit.

Looks like Kai was struttin’ like a big boy.

We played until it was dark, and then we headed home. We didn’t go home completely soaked, which was good. I had to pee on the way home. Like, really bad. There aren’t many places to do that, though, on the road between OMSI and home, since it’s all highway. Mom pulled us off the highway and couldn’t find anyplace “legit” to stop so we ended up at a building that was dark, and mama let me out and I peed on the wall. Ah, relief! It’s awesome being a boy. Don’t tell mom that I put that out there; that kind of thing is frowned upon. Even though it sure made me smile.

Pumpkin Patch

One weekend before Halloween, mama and daddy and Kai and I decided to go to a pumpkin patch. There are a few of them around here, and the big one we really wanted to go to was super busy so we stopped at a teeny little stand. There weren’t any big corn mazes (or any mazes, for that matter), or anything like that. They had pumpkins, and pumpkins they had.

And they also had a tractor wagon.

THEN, the next Friday, mama came home from work early and we went to the big, fun pumpkin patch. Just the two of us. You won’t believe all the things they had for us to do!

They had a huuuge barrel pyramid!

And a huuuge corn maze! That we got a little lost in. I was pretty worried that we wouldn’t get out. It started raining while we were in there and I was slip-sliding around in the mud. I held on tight to mama’s hand so I wouldn’t fall. We were lucky once or twice that we didn’t both fall.

Don’t worry, we made it out of the maze.

After that, I wanted to go on the hayride. It went out to the pumpkin patch and back. We didn’t get out at the patch; we already had enough pumpkins at home. So we just made a round trip out of it.

We went to the pumpkin launch (big slingshots for launching baby pumpkins) and then I spent some time in a hay bale maze. It was under cover in a barn and it was sure nice to stay dry for a while.

Checked out the animals. There was a food dispenser that you could put money in and it would give you food that you could give to the animals out of your hand. Fun!

This is one of the chickens we met.

We did a few more rounds to the pyramid, and the hay maze, and then we got some hot chocolate and went home. It was such a great time. Just me and my mom.
