administrative announcement
My blog is moving to www.ian-davis.blogspot.com. I hope you'll follow me there. We wouldn't move it but mama has been nervous about having our street name on the web like this. It was too easy to narrow in on our house. So, next posting will be from there; be sure to get your email feeds updated!
...and my new robe.
Mama was in Las Vegas last week for work. She brought home presents for us; Daddy got some cigars and t-shirts. I got candy and a t-shirt and a robe. Check it out! If you know me, you know I love boxing. My new robe has little boxing gloves on the front.

This picture kind of makes me look like I'm a karate kid but I'm really just doing yoga again.

Climbing a tree
the zoo today
We went to the zoo today. We go a lot, but we took a different turn today and saw all sorts of things that we had never seen before.
First we stopped at the Lorikeet exhibit, where there are lots and lots of pretty birds flying around and you can feed them. Some people were leaving and so they gave us their nectar cup. Mama held it still for a while and pretty soon a bird landed on her hand. So cool! It was drinking from the cup. Then another bird came and landed on her hand so she had two birds on her hand drinking from our cup. I petted one of the birds and wanted a bird on my hand too. So I helped mama hold the cup and one of the birds put its foot on my hand! I was very excited but held very still. Then a bird landed on mama's head! We hung out there for a while and then I wanted to go see the monkeys. And the hippos. So we handed off the nectar cup to a little boy and his daddy.
So here I am, on the way to the Africa exhibits.
While we were there, mama started pulling out my snacks in a desperate (and ultimately, futile) attempt to ward off my low blood sugar irritability. I was eating my little baggie of popcorn and a little boy walking by saw my bag and came in for a closer look, then helped himself to a piece of popcorn. Silly baby!
And here I am at the polar bears exhibit.

...and...leaving the polar bears exhibit.

We rode the MAX train to the zoo. I am very good and wait patiently for it to come get me.
We saw new things today like the bats and meercats and duikers. I had a lot of fun this morning but I think mama had even more fun (the bird thing).

Ding Ding Ding! I turned three!
Two weeks ago I had my party. Yeeaaahh the best party evar.
I got to have the party at daddy's fire station. I was so excited, I talked about it for months beforehand. And that was before we knew we would be able to have it at the station. I was just telling everybody that I was going to have lemon cake. Here's me helping with the lemon cupcakes.

Anyway, I am probably the luckiest kid ever. Who can say they had their birthday party at a fire station? Me. That's who.
We started out with balloons and silly string and bubbles. I had lots of little friends join me...no-one I invited turned down this party! Everything was set up in the big bay, right in front of a real live fire engine. We had lots of cupcakes, and a pinata, and coffee for the mommies and daddies.

We were having a good old time, running around and popping balloons, when daddy and his firefighters suddenly got serious and started running for their firefighter coats. They got suited up and ran to the fire engine 'cause hey, there was a fire! Wow!

Yeah, my daddy drives a fire truck. What does yours do?

It was so awesome, everybody got excited and we all followed the engine down the driveway. We were just going to wave them goodbye and good luck, but all of a sudden we saw the smoke. It was just across the field; so close that I could have run right to it (which I considered for a few minutes)

Mommies and daddies were laughing because they thought mama set it up but it was a real live fire. You don't get any better than that. Everybody's gonna have to try real hard to top that one. Even mama won't be able to touch this next year. Maybe she will have to set something on fire.
Here's Dylan trying on the little turnout coat that daddy found for us.

My little friend Ella having a fire-ific time at the party.

Carson getting his fire on.

I got to wear a real live badge for the day! It put real live holes in my shirt but that's a small price to pay.

Pinata time.

The pinata had lots of stuff in it...candy, stickers, bandaids, a couple of rubber duckies, and some packets of fruit snacks. Guess which of these Carson was hoarding? He ended up with so many in his arms that he couldn't walk and mama had to stuff them in his pockets.

Good party. What are we doing next year?

Other birthday stuff
After my party at the fire station, I went home and got into bed and could not sleep for even a second. I was wound up tight. That night was our family birthday event. Wate yamma and auntie Chris came down from seattle to be with me. So much fun! We ate hamburgers and I opened more presents and had leftover cupcakes for dessert.

Scooter! Scooter!

uh-uh-uh---piano!

BIKE BIKE BIKE oh I'm so tired.

Then I went to bed and was asleep right away. Busy day, fun day, wear-me-out day.

A high-temp Easter
Mama and I colored eggs a couple of days ago because today's Easter! I had a fever today and the indoor egg hunt was about the extent of the energy I could muster. I'd been very excited about today. Telling mama and everybody ...the easter bunny's coming! for the last week. Even this morning, despite my high temperature, I was certain that the easter bunny was downstairs and I needed to go see him. I got a basket with goodies and some bunny slippers. It was fun but being sick was a major bummer. Mama and I snuggled on the couch for hours and watched Cars and also Baby McDonald...three times in a row. And then Rudolph the Red Nosed Raindeer.
My birthday party was yesterday and I have a lot to post! Too much to do now. Something quick that I can put up now, though, is my new bed! Mama had a lady do it for us and I call it my special bed. It's a bunny bed. Mama and daddy took my old toddler bed and the rocking chair and the changing table out of my room and now there's my special bunny bed and my room feels so much bigger now. I feel so little in my big boy bed.
