Wate Yamma's Birthday Number 80

Wate Yamma turned 80 a few weeks ago so we drove up to Seattle to help celebrate. She had a big party and I was the hit of the show, as usual. One of the best parts was that I got to see Cousin Eli again. I was sleeping when he got there and when it was time for mama to get me up she brought him with her. They came in the room and I was already awake and looking at them...mama asked if I remembered Eli and I said yeah and acted all shy but inside I was bouncing up and down! We played together all afternoon until he had to go home. He's a big boy but he's a good friend and takes good care of me.

One of wate yamma's cards was a silly singing card. It made me laugh! I had to open it over and over and over....and then one last time.

Someone left some disposable cameras laying around. No-one was using them, so I decided to snap some photos. Mama and baba showed me how to take a picture and then wind up the camera so I could take another snap. I really really liked taking pictures and kept doing it until someone put the cameras away up high. Maybe I'll get my very own camera for christmas...

The car ride was kind of long but not tedious at all because we brought my portable video player again! Yay! Best thing ever. I can watch Baby Einstein videos until the battery goes out. Or mama takes it away. Whichever comes first.

We think it's silly that the Baby Bach video has a bunch of chickens in it (bawk, bawk!)

A few days after we got home, mama and I were at the store and the lady gave us a penny in change. Mama let me have it and I held on to it the whole ride home. Mama asked me what I was going to do with it and I said "go Target!". She asked me what I would buy with it and I said "more money!".

What do I say when...

Mama gives me my juice: "Thank you, mama"

Daddy wants me to eat my carrot at dinner: "No thank you, carrot"

I throw the ball down the stairs: "Nice job, Ian!"

I want to go on a walk with mama after dinner: "Need go walk in dark!"

We're on a walk with Bailey: "Go poop, Bailey!"

I want my bunny or duck in bed with me: "Need my friends!"

I'm building a tower out of blocks: "Hang on, little tower!"

Election Night!

Here's the moment we knew it was for real...

A big deal, they tell me.

I got to stay up a little late 'cause mama wanted to watch McCain's concession speech. Mama was acting all crazy excited and trying to get me to say words like "historic" and "momentous". I got out "mama...tis" and stumbled over the other ones. We were watching McCain's speech and we both thought it was a very nice speech. He was naming a bunch of people that he was thanking.

He forgot one so I added "...and Ian too".

At least mama thought it was funny.

This week.

The time change is tough on us 'lil ones. On Monday, Carson and I both decided, at 10:30, that it was time to nap. So we each picked a couch in the front room and snuggled up in a blanket. Daddy stalled us a bit but yeow we were sleepy.

Oh and we should have announced that mama's friend Lyndsay had her new baby girl about two weeks ago. Welcome, Sidney. We sent her a little present and a book by our favorite illustrator, Gyo Fujikawa. My favorite 'poems' book was done by that lady and we hope Sidney likes the book we sent. At least when she gets old enough that her eyes can focus on it.

Tonight when mama was getting dinner ready I asked her to put in a video. She's usually a sucker when she gets home from work and tonight was no different. She said ok, I could watch my bunny rabbit video for a little bit. She put the video in and went back in the kitchen. I said "good job, mama!"

"...did you just tell me good job?"

"....yeah."

After dinner tonight, like usual, I asked mama to go walk in the dark. I like walking in the dark, even when it's cold and rainy. Mama said that makes her proud. We can appreciate our rainy dark walks together. Tonight I wanted to wear my bumblebee costume from last Friday. I also wanted mama to give me a "silly nose" again. So she did (I got whiskers this time), then she let me give her a "silly nose". And then we went for our walk.

Lately I've been asking mama to cry. Don't know why, just like to see mama fake-cry. Maybe I'm a little sadistic. Anyway, tonight before bed when I was in my room putting my money away in the piggy bank, I was asking mama to cry again. She did, a little, and I got up and went over to her and kissed her to make her stop crying. She did, and then cried a little more and I kissed her again. We did this for a while and soon she was laughing and wouldn't cry anymore. So I told her to cry again! She said that she was too happy to cry. But then she remembered that she liked the kisses and cried again for me.

Hallowe'en

Have you heard about this trick-or-treating thing? I got to go this year for the first time and it. Was. Awesome. Ever since Friday night I've been asking to go "wick oh weet" again. I had mama put on my bumblebee costume this morning and said I wanted to go wick oh weet for some more candy.

No, I'm not funny and cute! Let's go get some more candy!

Friday morning daddy got me dressed up in my costume and took me to mama's work. Everybody oohed and aahed over me and I got more candy than I had ever seen. That is, until mama took me out that night. The first house we went to, our neighbor's house, I got a FULL SIZE candy bar. Of course, that's the first one that daddy snagged when we got home.

We were walking in the dark with a bunch of other kids dressed up as all sort of riffraff and after the first couple of houses, I got the drill down and started running up to every house I saw. Mama had to remind me to "knock hard" because at first I was knocking so softly that no-one was coming to the door. The person would open the door and gush over how cute I was and I would stare at them until mama whispered "say trick or treat" and I would say it really quietly. It didn't take long before I figured out that whenever somebody held out a bowl I should take two candies instead of one. I even tried for three one time but mama said no.

Sometimes mama had to remind me to say "thank you" but mostly I did it OK on my own...

Time for more candy now? Ay oo!

You spin me right round, baby...

So, no matter which house we're at, Carson/Ya-yun and I spend a lot of our time together chasing each other around it. Here we are at Ya-yun's house, we 'borrowed' this video off Itin's blog because...well, it's funny. There's another video that daddy made at our house that we'll post as soon as mama can get it ready.

Pumpkin Patch with Itin and Carson

About a week ago I went to the pumpkin patch with Itin and Carson/Ya-yun. Our playgroup was having a field trip and we were supposed to wear our costumes. So here I am, making my first public appearance as a bumblebee. Ta da!

In this one, you can see the little stinger on my bottom.

Me and my best friend.
Is this what they call a hay ride?
Interesting, it seems as though Ya-yun and I are the only ones in costume. A conspiracy perhaps? Yes...a conspiracy of cuteness!
