moley moley moley

Mama and daddy have lots of moles. I like to point them out. Now I have two of my own! There's one on the inside of my left knee and there's one right below the diaper line on the back of my left leg. I just hope God starts to spread them out a little more...I'd look pretty funny with all my moles on one leg!

The night mama found them she started singing that she loves my little moles and she loves my little feet. She had me laughing so hard I was almost choking.

my buddy

Mama was sick today and stayed home from work. Not only that, but Carson played at my house today too. So I had lots of company. It was a little overwhelming but lots of fun.

Carson discovered my potty and knew just what to do. "poo-poo?"

When mama ordered my potty she also ordered a book "Where's Baby's Belly Button?" It's a pretty good book, it's a lift-the-flap peekaboo book. She read it to me and Carson. In the book, the baby's belly button is under her shirt. A few hours later, after our naps, Carson decided to check and see if my belly button is under my shirt. So we were in the kitchen and he kept lifting up my shirt to point at my belly button. Mama and daddy thought it was really funny and daddy asked me where Carson's belly button was and so I lifted up his shirt and pointed it out.

P.S. Carson says that a horse says moo. I don't know if I believe him...he may be trying to mislead me.

Potty break

Yesterday we got in the mail a little plastic potty. I know what it's for. But pulling down pants and wiping and all that takes so much time...I'd rather stretch out this diaper gig for a while longer.

Yes, it's not only a potty, but it doubles as a stool! Can you dig it?

I eventually got up the nerve to sit on it. It was OK but don't get used to this mama.

As a bonus, the box that my potty came in is the perfect size for a clubhouse! Mama put a door and some windows in it, and voila! A tiny retreat for me.

My pajama shirt got wet at about the same time I pooped so when mama and I went upstairs to change, she asked me to pick out the shirt I wanted to wear. I found my chicken shirt in the closet, left over from Halloween. Mama thinks I look like Big Bird. I don't know who that is.

Road Trip!

I guess Monday was a holiday, something about presents day. I thought presents day was back two months ago but anyway, I didn't get any presents.

Mama was home from work and so in the morning we got up and ate breakfast and then daddy said "let's go for a ride in the car!" Well I don't have to tell you that those are some of the, um, seven...no, eight greatest words ever. They mean we're going somewhere fun (usually).

We scrambled around and got everything together. I mean, mama and daddy did. I had my hat and my coat and I was ready to roll. I don't know why it takes them so long to get ready to go anywhere.

We got in the car and drove for a while. I had my toy ducks and my toy guitar and was quite content to watch the scenery the whole way. Then we were there...Multnomah Falls. It was cold and very windy but we had a nice time. I was in my stroller for a few minutes then I wanted to get out and run around. I had to hold mama and daddy's hands when we were walking along the path to the bridge.

It was all very neat, there were lots of waterfalls and the one really big waterfall. They were all very "wow". We walked up to the bridge and looked around, mama took some pictures, and then we walked back down. Daddy had to go potty then so we went to the restaurant place and while he pottied, mama and I waited outside. I danced a little for some old ladies and they liked it a lot.

Then we all went inside the restaurant. By the way, we had to go up to the restaurant in an elevator and I was OK with it! I didn't freak out this time. It was actually fun and I wanted to play in it some more but it was time to go get a table.

We were in time to order breakfast and daddy ordered some ham and eggs, mama ordered some french toast, and I got some blueberry pancakes! They were the best thing I've ever eaten in my life. No offense mama. But dang, these were good! Mama put a little butter on them and then cut them up for me. I was shoving them into my mouth as fast as I could. Mama and daddy made me drink a little milk now and then to slow me down but then I was back to the pancakes...there was a point where I had both hands going from the plate to my mouth.

Aaaahhh, that's all I can think about now. Mama, how about some blueberry pancakes this next weekend? Mmmm....blueberry pancakes....

Sweet baby

Everybody tells me that I am such a sweet and lovey baby. Yeah, I guess they're right. I give mama and daddy lots of kisses and hugs. I do eskimo kisses too. This morning mama got me up out of my crib and then she put my quilt down on the floor and laid down on it. I went over and laid down on her and we snuggled for a long time. It was nice. Her pajamas are satin so it felt nice on my face.

Last night we had company for dinner, Kim and Jason and their baby Gunnar. Gunnar doesn't do much, just cries and lays around. He's not even big enough to eat the lasagna that mama made for dinner. He went to sleep while we were eating and his mama laid him down on my quilt on the floor. I got done with dinner early so I got down and ran around. There was a sharp intake of breath every time I raced by Gunnar but I was good and didn't fall on him once.

I love to get out the photo albums, especially the one from my first Christmas. I flip through the sticky pages and remember all those good times. Yesterday I went through that album about nine times.

You may remember that I got a bubble mower for Christmas. Well yesterday daddy mowed the front yard and I got to help!

Boy oh boy this is long.

Hi! This was a mostly good weekend. It would have been a really good weekend but Great Grandma was in the hospital. Mama went and visited on Saturday after I helped her make dried fruit slices again and fruit leather.

Then on Sunday I visited with mama and daddy before my nap. We got to the hospital and things were pretty OK; we waited in the hall with Auntie Barb until the nurse was done and then it was time to go in to the room. But I did NOT want to go in the room! It was very very scary and I stuck my bottom lip out and wailed. Mama walked me down the hall and that was better but then we got back to the end of the hall where Grandma's room was and it was still very very scary and again I stuck my bottom lip out and wailed. So we walked around for a while and mama found a magic door to the outside where I could push the button and the door would open. We did that for a while but then mama took me back to the room. I still was not happy about it but I was a trouper and went in.

I stayed in the room and was quiet and good and did not let mama put me down but I also did not cry so it was a pretty fair trade.

The rest of my weekend was pretty good. I show mama and daddy something new almost every day lately, when they're being good. I can tell them what a car says, "beep beep!". And mama got me to say bah-bye. That one's for when I go away or other people go away. I like that one a lot. Last night I was saying it in the bath. This morning when I woke up and mama made me wait in my crib, I laid there and practiced saying it. Bah-bye! Bah-bye!

I also made a mistake on Friday during my bath. I showed mama that I know more of my letters than I had previously let on. I have foam letters that float and also stick on the side of the tub. I like to take them all out of the froggy net that hangs on the inside of the tub and then put them back in. I say some of the letters to myself as I do this. Mama caught me talking to some of the letters, specifically "B" and "U" and "D".

I talk a lot, mostly in my own special language, but I also say words that other people can understand, sometimes. My favorite is "Wow!" but I also say things like "yay" and "nice" and "ni-night". And I can repeat most of the letters of the alphabet after daddy says each one.

I took mama and bailey for a long walk tonight. I held my flashlight and didn't drop it once.

This is a little late...

Daddy was sick last Friday, and so mama was home with me. I wasn't feeling great either so the day was kind of blah. By Saturday, I felt pretty good and I helped mama with some housework. We made dried fruit; my job was to take the cut apples and put them in the pretreatment water and then put them on the tray. Then I did some work in the sink. Mama set me up at my stool with some soapy water and dishes to play with. It was great!

Yamma and Baba R. were over on Sunday, so were Baba D. and uncle Dodo. There was some super game on teevee. There was lots of food and they were yelling and clapping a lot. I liked the clapping and joined in some times. I missed a lot of the game because mama and I were at swim class. It was a good class but it was kind of rough at first because mama woke me up from my nap in order for us to go on time. I'm never happy when somebody wakes me up from my nap. I get maaaad! I'm on my own timetable, baby!

Mere Fun

I've been good lately. I feel better, I'm over my cold except for nasal drip, so that helps. I sleep well and eat well and it's all good!

I really love to have mama spread out my fishing boy quilt in my bedroom. I go out in the hall and psych myself up. Then I run into my room and dive at the quilt. Sometimes mama is laying on the quilt too and I dive on her. When I have naked baby time, I dive at the quilt and then make mama put every single one of my blankets on me. Starting with the satin one. Ooooh, that one feels nice on my bare bum.
I also love to get the suitcase out from under my bed. It's where mama stores all the clothes that she has for me that are still too big. When I get the suitcase open, I throw the clothes all over the room. Then sometimes I sit in the suitcase.
Inspecting the clothes. Hmm, looks like somebody was shopping the sale rack!

that darned old virus train

(with apologies to Robert Louis Stevenson)

When dad is sick, he lays abed
with all our pillows at his head
and Thera-Flu beside him lay
to help him sleep all through the day.

And sometimes for an hour or so
he watches that Orange County Choppers show
with different handlebars and grills
and Mikey racing through the hills.

He moves around his sweaty feet
inside his soft red flannel sheets
and calls to mama with a plaintive shout
for ice to quell his inner drought

It feels like forever we've been ill
coughing, aching, dripping, but still,
our health we hope to soon regain
by somehow derailing that darned old virus train
