potties, underpants and a poopy toot.

I've really been dragging my feet on the whole potty thing. I like my diapers and that's that. But mama and daddy decided to put an end to it this week. We've been reading the potty books and practicing sitting on the potty and all that. But I was really resisting the change. As I said, I like my diapers.

Yesterday morning mama had me pantsless so I wouldn't depend on my diapers. And we (I) sat on the potty a lot. I was very proud though. I pottied in my potty chair five times! I only had one accident on the floor. The first time I made the potty in there, mama got so excited and clapped - and I clapped too! Daddy wasn't home so we sent him a message on his cell phone. Mama said I'm a big boy now. The second time mama was excited again and I said Mama I did it! After that I kept telling mama and daddy I'm a big boy.

Last night didn't go well because when I woke up from my nap my tummy hurt and I didn't feel good. Mama tried to have me sit on the potty but I threw up and she said I could have a potty reprieve for the night. I ate a little dinner and had some juice then threw up again. I wanted to go to bed early and nobody tried to talk me out of it. After I got upstairs and in bed mama asked me how my tummy felt and I told her it was all better.

This morning my tummy still felt all better and so I had potty time again. Mama was so happy and excited when I pottied in the potty chair and said it was time for big boy underpants. We went to the Target store and I saw the underpants and was so proud and picked out the ones I wanted. I got some Thomas Train underpants and some Cars underpants and some Sesame Street Elmo ones.

Then mama wanted to go pay for them and leave but I wanted to look around. I found myself at a play kitchen and played there for ten or fifteen minutes.

We got home and all of a sudden I wasn't so sure that I wanted to wear those underpants but daddy insisted. I picked the Thomas ones to wear. They were actually pretty cool and more comfortable than diapers.

Playing with my Thomas Train set, wearing my Thomas Train underpants. It's a match made on the Island of Sodor!

By nap time I was ready to be done with the underpants. I sat on the potty one last time and didn't make a potty, just a poopy toot. But I think I'll be ready to the underpants on after nap. Mama showed me my basket of diapers and said that these are the last of them. When I use those up we're all done with diapers. I understand. I don't like change but I think this will work out OK.

Visiting Vernonia

On Sunday we went out to Vernonia to see how Great Grandma and Auntie Barb fared during the storm. Their power had been out for a while but was just restored that morning so we had a nice warm cozy visit. We took some food and had a big yummy breakfast. The last week had been very very cold but they're tough ladies and bundled up and stayed put. Some of the snow had melted by the time we got there but you can get an idea of what they were dealing with. They couldn't get their cars out of the driveway but daddy did a bunch of snow shoveling while we were there. So now they can get to the toy store, at least. :)

Great Grandma isn't as good at hiding from mama's camera as Auntie Barb was. For all mama's efforts, all the photos she got of Auntie B were of some hands behind a pillar. No fair hiding!

Me in Vernonia.

We were out there a long time. Mama and daddy weren't ready to go by my naptime and I did NOT want to lay down by myself in a strange bedroom. And they are strange; GGrandma and Auntie B have a lot of dolls. That were staring at me.

So I was tired but didn't want to sleep there and cried a lot. Loudly. So mama took me and snuggled up with me on GGrandma's bed and we played a little and talked and then after a while she said No more playing and had me lay down on her. So we took a nap there, together. Mama with me on her chest. With my head snuggled up under her chin. It was nice and cozy.

And, to top it off, on the way home mama found the tree she had been looking for.

My First Photographs

Not quite a gallery exhibition, but the first public presentation of my photographs is very exciting.

As you can see, I have some new interpretations on old themes. I'll be exploring these further in the months and years ahead. Cheers!

Christmas

It's time to report on Christmas! I had lots of fun. This year was great and now I have big plans for next year... I'm talking to you, Santa!

On Christmas Eve we had the whole family over. Yamma & Baba, Amy, Brad, Oma & Baba, and Uncle Dodo. Lots of food and I didn't really eat anything but junk food all night. Isn't that the way it should be?

We opened some presents that night. I got a basketball hoop from Auntie Amy and Uncle Brad. Maybe they're trying to take my mind off bowling.

Methinks the grownups had lots to drink.

Oh, yeah. They were drinking. Did the apple cider ferment, Uncle Brad?

My big present from Santa was a THOMAS TRAIN TABLE!!!!!!! It looks like daddy and Uncle Dodo had to help Santa set it up. It's a busy night for the guy.

So you know where I went Christmas morning. It was, wow. I've barely left its side since. I was really really excited. Mama got me up and told me it was Christmas and that Santa came. We went downstairs and I stopped and saw everything and turned around and grinned at mama and walked backwards toward my new train table. I was a little overwhelmed but had so much fun.

Got lots of other cool stuff, like a tennis racket from mama and daddy and this winter bear from Auntie Chris!

Oma & Baba got me a leapfrog computer (yay!) and clothes (hm.) I really like the computer, it hooks up to the tv and I play all the games and am really good at them.

I also got a camera from mama and daddy. I'm very excited about that as well. I'll post some of my pictures from that next.

Robotica

Mama and I are kind of running out of things to do indoors. When we got home from breakfast this morning we played some of the usual stuff and then I told her we needed to make a robot. So she made me a robot.

But the robot needed a robot head, not a little boy head.

I didn't like the robot head at all. So mama put it on her head and made me a robot hat.

Beep. Beep. Take me to your cookies.

My friend Maddie came over to help with the gingerbread train. She lives next door and I love her.

The lovely train when it was done. Yum! Need eat yinyerbread train!

Then Maddie and I played Rock Band. I like the drums a lot and play them most excellently. I use both hands and even the foot pedal.

Oh and here's mama and me.

Mama made a ton of cookies this weekend. Maybe four or five different kinds. Our neighbors Trevor and Tiffany and their little kids were over on Saturday night to play. I kept sneaking cookies off the table. I'd grab one and then walk around casually, sometimes right by mama. She kept saying no and trying to move the cookies out of reach but I foiled her every time. This one time, though, mama was in the other room and Trevor saw me and ratted me out. Where'd you get that cookie, Ian? Geez. Grownups can be so uptight. It's not like I didn't have room for dinner or anything. Wait. No, I didn't have any room for dinner.
