Pre-Christmas Blitz

Tonight after dinner, mama and I made cookies. I did a lot of the work so mama didn't have to. I'm a good baker! Never mind that big mess on the counter. Sure, I'll clean it up, um, tomorrow...

Well, it got me thinking about how I am a bit backed up on Christmas pictures so I'd better get to it!

Ah, yes, here's a good one of Santa/me riding the elderly dog.

And there's always one of the best parts of Christmas, mama's Cookie Baking Day! Every year she bakes billions of cookies with a friend of hers. This year both of the mommies had babies in their tummies but they didn't let that stop them. There were so many cookies that we had to throw some away this month!

One of the kinds of cookies, mint meltaway thingies.

Another thing I did before Christmas was ride on the Christmas Train with mama and Opa. I really liked it a lot. Santa showed up on the train and gave me a candy cane!

I got to go to ZooLights a couple of times, once with my good friend Emmeline. I call Emmeline my sister. I've known her since she was just a baby. She's a wild little thing.

After ZooLights we went to her house for dinner. Which was vegetables and cheese "Raclette" for the grownups and fish sticks for me because I'm kind of picky. We played a lot and Emmeline wore me out but I had a lot of fun.

So I guess that was, like the big highlights of pre-Christmas. I have a lot of Christmas pictures that I'll put up next. During this pre-Christmas time I was very very excited and certain that Santa was going to bring me a new kitchen. Whenever someone knocked on the door I asked if it was Santa (by the way, the UPS guy is a real tease). When I was in bed waiting to go to sleep I would sing "Jingle Bells" to myself. On Christmas Eve, I decided that I would leave some cookies for Santa...and some hot chocolate for Rudolph. At the same time, I upped my order to a new kitchen AND a new TV.

What begins with "I"? IAN!

Mama and I have been working on my letters. I know almost all the letter sounds and I like to play the game of "what letter does this start with?" I'm usually right. We're working on letters at school too. Every week we work on a different letter and on Fridays I get to bring in something from home that starts with the letter of the week. It's really fun. We're on the letter "D" this week. I told mama some things that start with "D", like ducks, dinosaurs, ducklings and Dodo. I'm going to bring in my baby deer on Friday.

I've been practicing writing letters and I really like it. I know how to write my name now, which is really neat and I like showing it off.  Check it out!

Foot in Toilet

I know I owe Christmas pictures and update and I'll get to them very soon, I promise!

In the meantime, here's a funny story from a couple days after Christmas.

In the middle of the night, when mama and daddy were sleeping, they woke up to a noise and saw that the hallway bathroom light was on and the door was open. Dodo was here staying with us, but he would have closed the door. So mama got up, and when she got to the bathroom, she found me in front of the toilet, with the seat up, and one foot on the stool and one foot IN the toilet. She says I was sleepwalking because I didn't really wake up until she came in and then I realized a little bit where I was and got upset. Daddy went and got me some clean (& dry) pajamas and I got back in bed. In the morning, I remembered it a little but told mama I just got up to fix the CD player.

And here's a picture of me wearing a sweater that Aunt Barbie and Great Grandma made for me. When mama pulled it out of the closet that morning, I said I didn't want to wear it. Then she told me what it said ("Future Fireman") and I told her "OH! I do want to wear it!!!"

Baby stuff coming through!

We got down a bunch of my old baby stuff today, so we can get it ready for my baby. Mama started washing some blankets and stuff and she wanted me to check out the baby toys. I remember a lot of them, even though it's been a long long time since I was a baby. The toys are very special to me, especially some of them, like my crib birdies. Mama and daddy asked if it was going to be ok to let the new baby play with them and I said it will be just fine. Maybe he'll need me to show him how to do it.

Later this morning I told mama I wanted to go to bed. I hadn't even had lunch yet, it was so early. Mama asked me to eat just a little bit, and I watched a movie while I ate, but I couldn't eat very much and wasn't interested in the movie. I just wanted to go to bed. So mama gave me some medicine and I took a really early nap and slept a long time. When I got up I told mama I felt so much better. But the medicine wore off right before dinner and I wanted to go to bed. Mama and daddy wanted me to eat a couple of bites of dinner, so I snuggled with daddy and ate a little bit. Mama gave me some more medicine and we could sure tell when it started to work! I told mama I felt better but I still went to bed early. My books of choice were all baby related. I am very excited to be a big brother.

Today, it was a good day.

A top-twenty day! My friend Kobe came over this morning with his mama, and we decorated a gingerbread house for him and my gingerbread train. We ate lots of candy too. Then we ran and played a lot. They stayed for two hours and we had lots of fun. Mama told me I was a very good host. Kobe got me wound up really good and I went upstairs for my nap early.

Mama woke me up early from my nap so we could go to a Christmas party at her school. I didn't want to get up but she bribed me with m&ms. I got dressed and told mama that Rudolph was going to come with us, and she was ok with that. When we got out to the car, I wanted Rudolph to ride in the back cargo area so mama opened the back door so he could get in. We went to McDonalds first for a quick dinner and then off to the party!

There was a clown there making balloon shapes and the first thing I wanted to do was get a balloon. At the last second I decided that I wanted a red and green sword. It was super cool and taller than I am! Then we looked around and in the big classroom they were playing christmas movies. So I sat for a bit and had some punch and a cookie. A bunch of other boys had swords too so I ended up running around with them for a long time and play fighting. Mama disappeared for a while talking to her friends but I was ok by myself.

I wasn't ready to leave but it was getting late so mama tore me away from all that fun.

Mama let me talk her into three Mario Kart races when we got home, then we went straight up to bed. I was kind of tired and cranky and wound up so was a bit naughty and ended up losing both of my bedtime stories. But mama said I could earn one back if I would be a delightful little boy for the rest of getting-ready time. And I was so I got to hear one story. But then I was mad that I didn't get my normal two stories so I told mama I was sad and that I don't love her. And she made me hug her and then we snuggled and after a while I felt better and told her that she makes me happy. So it ended up being a good and happy night after all. Sweet dreams!

Christmas fever

Mama's caught me with the light on twice tonight. I'm just having a hard time sleeping. The last couple of days I haven't felt great but at least no fever.

I'm really excited that it's Christmas time.
I've been loving to wear the Santa hat all the time and make everyone call me Santa Claus. And I have mama and daddy sing "the Rudolph reindeer song" and then I pretend to play the reindeer games (soccer), which summons Rudolph to our house.

I'm also excited that my friend Kobe from school is going to come over on Saturday and we're going to decorate gingerbread trains. He's my best friend not counting mama and daddy and grandmas and grandpas and stuff. I can't wait, I'm so excited...
