Cluck/Quack

I found my halloween costume on the stairs this morning waiting to go back into my closet. It looked like fun so I asked mama to put it on me. She only put the top part on (though I made her put the bottoms on me later). Then I flapped my wings and quacked. No big deal...duck...chicken...they're all the same underneath the feathers.

Chicken snack! Maybe corn would have been more appropriate.

Behold! I am Hans, the world-famous amazing vacuuming chicken. Here to vacuum for your viewing pleasure.

I'm a Halloweenie.

After everything else, they actually made me dress up as poultry.

I dressed up today and went down to mama's office. I danced and flirted and got lots of attention, but no good candy.

Here are mama's pumpkins. I like them a lot.

Here's dada and me, after I doffed my chicken costume. We were waiting for trick or treaters but tonight was really slow. Hi mama! Boo!

Random things.

Mama and I went to the park this weekend. There were swings and climby things and best of all, slides! I headed straight for the biggest one. I was able to go up the stairs by myself and head over to the top of the slide but every time I did, mama sat down next to me and grabbed my hand. I guess she was scared and wanted me to help her slide down. We went down the slide again and again. Then we went on the swings. Mama made me sit on her lap. She let me sit on the swing on my own but never let me go very high when I was sitting there by myself.

Sometimes when mama or dada tell me "no" or don't let me do something I want to do, I get these really strong, scary feelings inside. I get so worked up and don't know what to do so my body takes over. Sometimes I hit or throw things, sometimes I even throw myself into a chair or wall. I don't like feeling like this but I can't help it. Feeling powerless is no fun. I have heard about "terrible twos" and yeah so far it's not looking good.

So this weekend, dada took the pumpkins from mama's garden and did some weird stuff with them. He cut their heads off and gutted them. It was violent and disturbing. I've seen similar stuff around the neighborhood too, pumpkins with scary faces in them. I guess mama wanted to be different 'cause she didn't make a face, just used the cordless drill to make holes in it. Grownups are weird.

Last night before bedtime, mama and I walked up the street with Bailey. It was dark outside so we were looking at the stars and the streetlights. We walked a few blocks up and mama showed me this house with cool orange lights and tombstones in the yard. They even had a giant winnie the pooh dressed up as a vampire. Awesome! I really liked walking around outside at night, it's not like daytime 'cause it's dark.

Owie!

Auntie Amy was at our house today and I was a little wound up. I was racing around the house and when I was in the kitchen I tripped and my face hit the tile. My front tooth went through my lip and cut it. And my tooth chipped on the tile. Owie!!!! Lots of blood in my mouth. Yucky!!!! I cried and cried. And cried.

It was nappy time anyway so after dada got me cleaned up and put a little ice on my lip, mama tried to calm me down and then took me upstairs. All that crying wore me out so I went right to sleep. I had a long sleep and woke up feeling better. I still had a fat lip though. Then I had lunch and we went to Trader Joe's and mama got me a balloon. It's yellow. It makes me happy.

Last week.

Last week was a good grandma week. On Saturday I saw Grandma R/Grandma What and Great Grandma H. We went to visit GGH and Auntie Barb to celebrate GGH's and Grandpa R's birthdays. I had fun, we ate pizza and I got chocolate cake. Yum!

Oh and I got to see some cows and horses. Mama wouldn't get too close 'cause she doesn't like cows, but I got close enough to moo at them. GGH's neighbor has a tractor and when she drove up to feed the cows it was so exciting! I couldn't help but screech. It was awesome. I saw some birds and an airplane that day too so, you know, wow.

Then on Monday evening, Great Grandma Rex came down from Seattle with Auntie Chris. Yep, it was a good Auntie week too! They were here for a memorial service so I got to spend a bit of time with them before they went home.

Tonight at dinner mama gave me a little bowl of ranch to dip my food in. Mmmmm.

Hello, my love! Where have you been all my life?

18 month appointment

I got to go see the doctor again this week 'cause I'm 18 months old! She weighed me and measured me and stuck a needle in me and looked me all over. I am now 26 pounds heavy and 33" tall. About 50th percentile for weight and about 75th for height so all of those people who tell me that I must be big for my age can bite it.

Farmer Ian

The farmer in the dell,
he has a funny smell.
It's not the cows,
it's not the sheep
He pooped without a peep.

What? Time for bed? NOOOOOOOO!!!!

Mama said to stop playing with the storage ottoman. This is my "what, me getting into something I'm not supposed to...?" face.

I still like reading a whole lot. I like my First Book of Prayers, it has really nice pictures. And my Child's Garden of Verses. Mama and dada have all those poems memorized now.

My Poky Little Puppy book is still a favorite too. I love helping those puppies count themselves after they get to the top of the hill. I point to each one and mama says the number. One! Two! Three! Four! Where is that poky little puppy? Ha, ha, that one gets me every time.
